Byron's own Michael Coble has been selected to play in the upcoming Minnesota Football Showcase all-star game to be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) and the Minnesota Vikings have announced the 12 coaches and 98 players who will participate in the 2017 Minnesota Football Showcase (45th Annual MFCA All-Star Football Game). The All-Star Football Game will showcase outstanding senior players from the 2017 Minnesota high school football season.
Coble, who has shined on offense for the Bears as its dual-threat quarterback, was selected for his defensive skills and is on the all-star roster as a defensive back. Game time is 3 p.m.
The game will be played for the second time at U.S. Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings. The 2017 All-Star Game will also be the 56th overall in Minnesota high school football history, dating back to 1945.
Players and coaches representing a record 91 schools and 37 Sub-Districts will participate in this year's game. They were selected by members of the Minnesota Football Coaches Association.
For the eighth consecutive game, the game will feature the North All-Stars vs the South All-Stars. In the December 2016 game, the South All-Stars defeated the North All-Stars 15-7.
