By Tara Lindquist
Hey Days; yes it's happening-despite the rumors otherwise.
The committee has been working since last October on planning the annual celebration and they are working on getting the community involved in helping with it.
"It would be appreciated if some groups would create some games or something for kids to do during the weekend," explained committee member Lisa Rueckert. "Years ago teams and groups organized games like shooting baskets, an obstacle course and putt-putt golf." She thinks it would be great to get some of those things back. "Anyone that would be interested in helping bring those things back can contact a committee member," she said.
The weekend, which is July 26-28 will be similar to the past. Friday is the Viking Pride Golf Tournament at the Oaks, Field of Flags, Hey Days Queen Pageant and Voices Karaoke contest. There is one last chance on June 28 at the American Legion to tryout for the Voice contest. Saturday will have once again have the antique tractor show and pull, quilt show, volleyball and softball tournaments, little princess party, inflatables, mud bogs and the band Time Machine on the main stage for the street dance. Sunday will have a car show, community worship, parade, water wars, continuation of the volleyball and softball tournaments, field of flags and will conclude with fireworks in the evening.
The committee is still looking for local volunteers to help with the weekend.
