The Place to be Seen in 2013! The Dodge County Fair opens Wednesday, July 17

Fun for all at the free fair!

Tractor pulling, carnival games, and a big Ferris wheel: just what we need! Right in the middle of summer is the opening of the Dodge County Fair! From July 17-21, there will be plenty to do and watch at the fairgrounds. People young and old can have themselves a good time just by coming around!



The Grandstand Events for this year include Extreme Bull Riding by Rice Bullriding Company on Wednesday, July 17, along with Mud Bog Races by the Rochester Rough Riders on Thursday, and a Tri-State Tractor Pull on Friday. On Saturday, there will be a Semi-Tractor Pull at 11 A.M. and a Demo Derby at 7 P.M. by the Crashmasters.



The Beer Garden will have plenty going on as well. Lots of good music played by Good Vibrations on Wednesday, DJ Chris Nelson on Thursday, Lost Faculties on Friday, and the DC Drifters on Saturday will be there for entertainment.

On top of that, there will be a Mechanical Punching Bag, a jukebox, a meat raffle, a frozen T-Shirt contest on Friday and Bud Girls on Saturday.

The hours of the Beer Garden are Wednesday through Saturday from 1 P.M.-12:30 A.M., with Happy Hour on Wednesday through Friday from 5-7 P.M. with a two-for-one beer special. There will also be a special wine tasting from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, sponsored by Kasson Liquor.

Carnival Rides

There are many other things going on around the fair as well, such as rides provided by Midwest Rides for people to go on. To buy tickets early, just go to the Fair Office, Casey's in West Concord or Mantorville, Hardware Hank in Kasson, or any of the banks in Dodge County.



The Commercial Exhibits will be in the former Horticultural and Fine Arts Buildings. Crops, Grains, Flowers, Vegetables and FFA will be displayed in the Pavilion. And the Fine Arts will be in the Women's Building with Foods and Creative Activities. There are many new vendors coming that you won't want to miss. Outside the Four Seasons Arena there will be lots of Equipment, Campers, etc.



There will also be Vogel's Exotic Petting Zoo and the FFA Kiddie Barnyard there for kids and adults to come see animals both common and uncommon in the arena and to interact with them, including the Krystal Kennels Dog Sled display on Friday. 4-H exhibits, Open Class exhibits, and Animal Barns will be there to look around in and watch Open Shows at as well.



The Amazing Hoopsters will appear on Saturday which includes a light and fire show that evening down by the Fair Office as the Grandstand event ends.



Special Days:

Senior Citizen Day on Thursday with Jason the Juggler performing at 11:30 A.M. followed by a picnic provided by Semcac, with "Casey and the Goodtimes" playing music;

Daycare and Family Day on Friday with Frannie the Farmer and Jason the Juggler providing entertainment with Jazze the Balloon Artist;

Kiddie Pedal Pull on Saturday at 4 P.M.; and

Sunday will be honoring many by inducting people into the "Hall of Fame", and recognizing Veterans, Farm Family of the year, Commissioners, Honorary Fair Board, and Present Fair Board Members.

Anyone in the county can be a voting member of the Dodge County Agricultural & Mechanical Society. To be a member, dues of $5need to be paid by the close of the Dodge County Fair, July 21, 2013.
