There's a lot that's new at Ryan's Foods

By Larry Dobson

Hayfield's grocery super market has a new look inside and a lot of new additions to stock so customers have a larger selection of popular items. Ryan's Foods owner Jim Baldus said Tuesday morning that renovation of the store is ongoing but the Grand Reopening is this week, so people are encouraged to stop in and see what has been changed and what has been added.

"We are proud of the changes, which are pretty exciting for a small town," said Baldus, who has owned Ryan's Foods for 13 years. "There is a new dairy cooler, new meat cases, smoked meat case, new deli cases, new produce cases and new card cases. We painted the interior and are waiting for new freezers."

Baldus said the new freezers are expected to be delivered within a week.

"We've added 300 new items to store stock," Baldus said. Among those items are a larger variety of condiments and pet food, he said. "We now have a meat cutter on site again, Glenn Woslager, so customers can have special meat cut right on site."

Two years ago, Baldus said he started upgrading the store with the installation of a front-end computer system. "That was a major investment, as you probably know," Baldus said. "This is another major investment to provide better selection and service for our customers in the Hayfield market."

A walk around the store revealed a large selection of greeting cards for all occasions, movies to rent and for sale, a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetable, a well stocked meat department and a lively conversation with Glenn Woslager, the meat cutter. There are many choices of products of every kind one would expect to see in any good super market, and a friendly and helpful staff you might not expect.

Ryan's is open seven days a week, with store hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. There are many special sale prices for the grand reopening.
