Tasha Nicole Freeman, 18, of Byron, has been charged with 5th degree drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia following a July 5 car crash.
According to a complaint filed in Olmsted County District Court, at 7:30 a.m. on July 5, the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office reported to a crash on Country Club Road in Kalmar Township.
A deputy arrived to find a car off of the roadway in a cornfield. The driver of the car was found talking to OnStar from the driver's seat, the complaint stated.
Another deputy arrived on scene and found a glass pipe on the floor of the car in front of the driver's seat, according to the complaint.
During the search of the car, deputies found a glass bottle that was field tested positive for methamphetamine, a clear pipe, and a glass container containing multiple prescription drugs later identified as five white pills of Lorazapam, one green pill of Alprazolam, four tan-colored pills of Concerta, several pink pills of Clonazapam and six white pills of Trazadone, the complaint stated.
The penalty for the drugs themselves is 5 years, a $10,000 fine, or both, while the penalty for the possession of drug paraphernalia is up to $300.
