From the face painting and the ring toss to the free ice cream and the outdoor movie, Byron's Good Neighbor Days came and went this past weekend.

Friday's festivities were mostly held at City Hall, while The Bears Den hosted a Beersbee tournament.

Dozens, if not hundreds, of residents and visitors gathered at City Hall for the evening, which featured an ice cream social, a kid's carnival and an outdoor movie.

"We've had a great turnout," said Marie Peterson, of the City of Byron, who was also the 2012 Good Neighbor Award recipient.

This year's Good Neighbor Award winner is retired firefighter and retired IBM manager Tim Baudoin.

In retirement, Baudoin now spends his time mowing fairways at Somerby and as a DJ.

A grandfather of six, Baudoin has praised the quality of education as being a crucial part of Byron.

"Even though we pay for it in our taxes, the school system is worth it," Baudoin recently said.

Mother Nature cooperated all throughout Good Neighbor Days, which ended Sunday with the annual parade and fireworks show.

Temperatures hovered between the high 70s and low 80s, without a drop of rain.

The 5K and 2.5K runs took off in fine form Saturday at 8 a.m. at Byron Middle School.

Full results, in addition to continued coverage of Good Neighbor Days, will appear in the July 29th edition of the Byron Review.
