City Administrator Lee Mattson's resignation
By Larry Dobson
After 18 years with City Administrator Lee Mattson as his right hand man, Mayor Bill Ketchum asked the council Monday night for a motion to accept Mattson's letter of resignation. There was no joy in the room as the motion was made and unanimously approved.
In his resignation letter, Mattson said he has accepted the position of City Manager of the City of Waseca and will be ending his employment here August 31. He expressed his gratitude to the council and city staff for their efforts with him to make the City of Dodge Center successful. He also recognized the many citizen volunteers who have contributed so much to keeping the city successful.
Mattson's last day in the office will be August 17, after which he is taking a vacation in advance of starting his new position on Sept. 4.
Business opened Monday with a presentation services and financial aid available in Dodge Center by Tim Penny, President and CEO of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF). Councilman Gary Trelstad asked about resources for child care, possibly a child care center. Penny said both training and financial resources are available and actually have been used in Dodge County. SMIF offers a wide range of resources available by going to the website: smifoundation.org.
