4/17/2012 3:08:00 PM Matthees pleads guilty to criminal sexual misconduct

On April 11, a Dodge Center man originally charged with criminal sexual misconduct in the first degree accepted a plea agreement and entered a guilty plea to the amended charge of criminal sexual misconduct in the third degree. He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
According the criminal complaint filed in Dodge County District Court on September 30, 2011, Jace Matthees invited to his home a woman he met through Yahoo! Messenger and had met with on one previous occasion. The complaint says, the victim, who was not identified, told Dodge County investigators that the sex started out as consensual but Matthees became physically aggressive, pushing her down on her belly and tying her arms behind her back with a sweatshirt cord. The victim reported Matthees repeatedly bit her while her arms were tied, she was screaming for him to stop and crying out because she was in physical pain. According the report, after crying for some time, the victim was able to free herself but was told she was not allowed to leave his home until he was sexually satisfied and she complied because she wanted it to be over with.
On October 6, 2011, Investigators Jeff Brumfield and Scott Rose along with Sergeant Michael Karlen went the home occupied.....Read the rest of the story in the Star Herald print edition.
