Instead of asking for presents for her 24th birthday, Morgan Converse of Brownsdale is asking for donations to help her cause, 24 Random Acts of Kindness.
"I've always been into doing small things for other people, whether I know them or not," Converse explained. "I believe that if you put positive out into the world you'll receive positive things in return." Converse says she's a testament to that. "I've been very fortunate in my life and I want to give that back to others."
She points out she doesn't live in a glamorous home, or drive a great car. "I don't have a fancy job, I work at the Spam Museum and I love it, but I don't make a lot of money but I still try to help others." Last year, instead of giving Christmas gifts to her friends and family she decided to donate a thousand dollars to help a family in need, a family that may not have had a Christmas had it not been for her generosity.
Now she is hoping to raise a little money to complete her mission of 24 random acts of kindness. "I'm hoping to do a lot of small things for strangers," she explained. "Whether it's paying for their dinner or simply handing them some flowers or paying for their gas." She has made up cards that explain her mission to give to those who receive her act of kindness, the cards ask that they simply pay the act of kindness forward. Her biggest hope in doing all of this is to get younger people in to the habit of helping others. "Whether it's opening the door for someone or paying for the person in line behind you at the drive thru," she said. "I think we all just need to be a little kinder to one another."
