The Triton High School FFA annual Corn Drive is more than just asking for corn, soybeans, or cash donations. THS's FFA chapter is having their annual Corn Drive on October 23rd in the communities of West Concord, Dodge Center, and Claremont.

When asked how long it takes to plan and perfect an event such as the Corn Drive, Josh Brocker, the co-president of the FFA chapter, said "about two months, beginning a couple weeks before school starts until the actual date of the Corn Drive, then about a week afterwards working on 'Thank You' letters."

The Corn Drive is never perfected because there are new ideas every year in an attempt at making it more successful. "Altogether twenty to thirty members help with the event but about five do the major brunt of the work." Brocker stated. As for what must be accomplished before the event, co-president lists "Addresses of certain businesses and farmers need to be recorded, maps (and boundaries) drawn, information letters to possible donors are written and mailed, signs are made to inform communities, and looking up a lot of information." Brocker spends about two and a half hours daily working on the Corn Drive to help it get to its highest potential.

Although much work is needed to be done, Brocker believes it is all worth it in the end. Those who donate will receive a free steak meal as a 'Thank You' for supporting the FFA chapter in February at the annual Triton FFA Steak Feed.
