Dodge Center's Main Street will once again have a restaurant.

Kevin and Tammy Nowrocki recently moved to the area from Michigan. Tammy is starting a new career as a social worker.

When Nowrocki was in a Dodge Center bank opening his checking account, he learned there was a vacant restaurant in town that was up for sale. He quickly got in touch with the owners and recently took over the building. "It all went very fast," he explained. "But we're excited."

Nowrocki expects the restaurant, Pure Country Family Dining, to open in January. He plans to be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the exception of Fridays when the plan is to be open all day and into the evening for a fish fry. He also said everything at the restaurant will be homemade, from the cinnamon rolls in the morning to buns and bread for lunch sandwiches and burgers. "I've worked in the restaurant business my whole life," he said.

Plans to redo the restaurant are underway. He's going to work on replacing the flooring and bringing the kitchen up to date. He has also begun collecting décor items to give it a country look.

Nowrocki managed a restaurant in Rudyard, Michigan named Pure Country Family Restaurant for many years. While there, he was in charge of the general day-to-day operation of the restaurant. He named his place in honor of his past employer.
