The city council unanimously approved Somerby's latest housing development at its regular meeting Tuesday, March 11, at City Hall.
The Southwell subdivision is set to include 29 lots that will be graded to allow for either rambler walkouts or rambler lookouts.
Officials for the subdivision say they hope to break ground later this year.
Byron's planning and zoning commission approved the development prior to sending it to the city council.
According to city documents, Somerby has been proposing a Southwell subdivision since 2003.
Southwell comes on the heels of Somerby's Bridgeford Golf Villas, which the council approved on Oct. 10, 2012.
That development was also planned for 29 lots and was designed to be stand-alone homes as part of a maintenance-free setting where homeowners don't have to worry about lawn car or snow removal. The Bridgeford lots are currently for sale on Somerby's web site.
