TRITON ISD NO. 2125 - SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2013 - 6:00 P.M.

POSTPONED FROM MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2013

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

TRITON HIGH SCHOOL - DODGE CENTER, MN

-Meeting Proceedings-

Chair Streiff called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Those members present: Lloyd Henslin, Jr., Duane Bartel, Terry Selthun, Jon Streiff, Dale Jensen, Bryce Kleinwort and Chad Johnson; absent: none. Also present: Superintendent Robert Kelly, Principal Craig Schlichting, Student Council Representative Amanda Groll, Deb Meeker, Patty Braeger, Kim Swanson, Roy Henderson, Larry Dobson and Jill Hukee.

Bartel/Henslin to approve the agenda with the addition of Item 4.5 Contract for Jaime Geers as Educational Assistant. Motion carried unanimously.

Henslin/Jensen to approve the consent agenda including the February 11, 2013 regular meeting minutes; claims and bills; financial report; open enrollment/nonresident agreements for students #031813A, #031813B, #031813C, #031813D, #031813E and #031813F; contracts for Susan Spatenka as Educational Assistant, Jeremy Moran as JH Girls Softball Coach; resignations/retirements for Joanne Levi as Teacher effective the end of the 2012-2013 school year and Linda Schueler as Teacher effective May 29, 2013; resignation for Peter Somers as Teacher effective March 13, 2013 and contract for Jaime Geers as Educational Assistant. Motion carried unanimously.

Kleinwort/Selthun motioned to approve students to attend an overnight trip for the FFA State Convention in St. Paul on April 28-30, 2013. Motion carried unanimously.

Principal Craig Schlichting explained the Ramp-up to Readiness program that helps schools create college-ready students.

Banking options were discussed and the service charges will continue to be monitored.

Henslin/Bartel motioned to approve the S.A.S.S. Contract. Voting yes: Henslin, Selthun, Jensen and Bartel; Voting no: Streiff, Kleinwort and Johnson. Motion carried.

Superintendent Robert Kelly reported on the following items:

• Spring sports

• PwC ready for concert

• HRA and insurance

• 1 on 1 initiative will be presented next month

• Additional snow days beyond contract agreements do not need to be made up (at this point)

• Speech & ESL Teachers for next year

• Bus inspections

• Construction update

Student Council Representative Amanda Groll reported they made a Harlem Shake video during snow week.

Bartel/Kleinwort motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:05 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
