Frozen service lines
By Larry Dobson
Dodge Center City Council pondered frozen water service lines and sewer lines during its regular meeting Monday evening. Several residents in the city have experienced freezing of their water service lines, which connect household water systems to the city water system and are the responsibility of the homeowner. There have also been instances of sewer lines freezing where the lines are not buried deep enough to avoid freezing. The city has been able to open the frozen sewer lines, but the best it can do for residents with frozen water service lines is give them the names of plumbers who may be able to help.
Sheriff Deputy Scott Rose addressed the council to let members know he is running for Dodge County Sheriff.
Chris Marquette addressed the council with a request to rent the Community Center for firearm safety conceal and carry classes, a request the council approved.
The council approved minutes of the its regular meeting Jan. 27, 2014 and special meeting Jan. 31; payment of bills totaling $41,846.95; and
authorized staff to order a civil defense siren to located in the northeastern part of the city;
approved a motion to authorize overtime pay for city staff for all weekend hours worked provided the hours are not part of the employee's normal work schedule.
