Celia Sue Robinson
The funeral service for Celia Sue Robinson, 78, of rural Stewartville, MN, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell, MN, with Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Mrs. Robinson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 18, 2014, at her home in Kasson, MN.
Celia was born on February 23, 1936, in Memphis, Scott County, MO. She grew up in Memphis, attended school there, graduating from Memphis High School in 1954. She attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO, and Kirksville State Teacher's College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, MO, earning a teaching degree. She moved to Rochester, MN, where she attended Mayo Medical School and became a Registered Physical Therapist. Celia was employed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a physical therapist for many years and was the first Certified Hand Therapist at the Mayo Clinic. She also was the Director of Physical Therapy at the Stewartville Care Center for several years. After her children graduated from high school, she returned to college earning her Master's Degree in Education at St. Mary's University in Winona, MN.
Celia was married on Oct. 24, 1964, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN, to Gayle E. "Robbie" Robinson. The couple moved to rural Stewartville where they raised their family and lived on their farm for many years. Following Celia's retirement in 2001 they moved to rural Kasson. Mr. Robinson died on April 23, 2011. Celia moved into Kasson in the fall of 2011. She was a longtime member of East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell and was active with its Heritage Committee. She was a past member of the American Physical Therapist Association serving as an officer for the MN chapter. Celia was active as a 4-H leader and enjoyed assisting her children with the county fair. She enjoyed time spent with friends and family, and especially loved following her grandchildren's school, 4-H and sporting activities.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children; Rebecca (Albert "Red") Nold, Heather Robinson (Michael Hopper), Laural (Jeremy) Bauer, Ross (Barb) Robinson, and Randall (Leah "Kitsie"); her grandchildren, Shawnna, Casey, Alex, Nickolai, Landon, Katelyn, Joshua, Aleya, Kale, and Trace; her sister, Virginia (Morris) McNabb and half-brother Andrew (Janet) Keethler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gayle.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning. A private family burial will take place at East St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to East St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
