Marion Thompson

Marion Thompson passed away peacefully September 24, 2012 at her home in Kasson with family at her side.

She as born July 11, 1925 to Theodore and Mabel Aarsvold in rural Kasson. The family later moved to the Grand Marais area and returned to the Kasson/Byron area during her early teen years. She worked as a telephone operator while attending Byron High School.

Marion married James Thompson in San Francisco, CA, on March 21, 1944. When James was discharged from the Navy, they moved back to the Byron area.

Family and friends were extremely important to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, and took pride in maintaining an impeccable home. She enjoyed their monthly card club parties and spending time at their trailer near Garrison, MN.

Marion is survived by her brother, Paul (Leanna) Aarsvold of Lake Park, MN; sons, Gary (Betty) Thompson of Breezy Point, MN and Bradley Thompson of Stewartville, MN; daughters, Sandra (George) Bolles of Byron, MN and Linda (Jeff Warner) Thompson of Rochester, MN; sisters-in-law, Millie Aarsvold and Nancy Aarsvold; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mabel (Markegaard) Aarsvold; brothers, Obed, Lyle and Jacob Aarsvold; sisters, Rebecca Skomaroske, Alma Swenson and Eva Barrone; sister-in-law Lina Mae Aarsvold; and brothers-in-law, Harold Barrone and Norman Skomaroske.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Frontage Road NW, Byron, MN, with Pastor Jack Friedli officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 28, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St, Kasson, MN and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to them for distribution later according to their wishes.
