The funeral service for Louis William Kraemer will be 11:30 a.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 Central Avenue North and Highway Street, in Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Robert Lentz officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center with military honors by the Dodge Center American Legion.
Louis W Kraemer, 92, passed away on January 15, 2013, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Louis was born on October 24, 1920, the son of John and Amelia (Zeller) Kraemer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1939-1945, spending much of his time on the Alaskan island of Adak during the Aleutian campaign, which was known as the "Forgotten Battle". Louis was united in marriage to Viola Schmoll on January 18, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. He was a former owner of the Dodge Center Canning Factory, farmed locally for many years, and operated a Vigortone Feed dealership. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, bowling, traveling, and gardening.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Denise Sundquist, Burnsville, MN; son, Neal Kraemer, Apple Valley, MN; five grandchildren, Timothy and Eric Sundquist; Paige, Kylie, and Gabrielle Kraemer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; one sister, four brothers; and one daughter-in-law.
Visitation will be 5:30-8:00 p.m. Saturday, evening, January 19, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW, Dodge Center, MN and visitation one half hour before the service at the church on Sunday. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers, which they will donate to Heifer International, whose mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
