Mary E. Barley
Mary E. Barley, 84, passed away on Feb. 18, 2014 in Wesleyan Health Care, Marion, Ind.
Mary was born on May 16, 1929 in Rochester, Minn. She was one of three children born to the late Allen and Abigail (Allard) Briggs.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of Byron High School, Byron, Minnesota and attended Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. On May 7, 1949 she married Theodore W. "Bill" Barley. Mr. Barley survives.
Mrs. Barley was employed in the records department for the Marion Police Department, Butler Music Company, RCA and in human resources for Marion General Hospital until her 1992 retirement.
She was co-proprietor for Heartland Bus Tours and enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and Canada. Mrs. Barley was a lover of music and the arts and was the former director of the Christmas City Chapter of
Sweet Adelines. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Theodore W. "Bill" Barley Sr.; five children, Theodore W. "Bill" (Debbie) Barley Jr., Denver, Colo., Thomas A. Barley, North Vernon, Ind., Michael W. Barley, Noblesville, Ind., Sally (Mark Hoffman) Barley, Odessa, Fla. and Robert L. (Laura) Barley, Three Rivers, Mich.; one brother, Robert (Margie) Briggs, Woodbury, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Barley was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Null Knight.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion, Ind., with Chaplain Don Miller officiating.
