Hayfield 21- Goodhue 36

After giving up a touchdown on the first drive of the game, the Vikings settled in to play their best football of the year. The first half saw the ball go back and forth quite a bit. Midway through the 2nd quarter the Vikings capitalized on a drive highlighted by a 4th down first down run by Senior Quarterback Brady Kramer, and capped off with a touchdown pass from Kramer to Junior Merrick Ducharme. Kramer then added 2 points after, finding fellow senior Nate Timmons in the end zone to make the score 14-8. That would be the score going in to the half.

The Vikings returned the ball the start off the second half. Their first drive ended with a turnover, but before Goodhue could get a play off the lights went out. Both teams exited the field and began the waiting game. After a long delay, power was restored to the lights and the game continued.

Three plays later Goodhue was able to capitalize on the turnover with a touchdown run. The Vikings were able to score on another pass from Kramer, this time to Junior Cole Kruger, and a run again by Kramer, but were unable to close the gap on the Wildcats of Goodhue.

Kramer finished the game with 11 completions for 204 yards and 2 TD's as well as 54 yards and a TD on the ground. The Vikings were also led offensively by Timmons who rushed 8 times for 45 yards and caught 3 balls for 37 yards, Cole Kruger with 3 catches for 82 yards and a TD, and Junior Carter Pesch with 3 catches for 27 yards.

Defensively the Vikings were led by Kramer with 13 total tackles, Junior Drew Streightiff with 10 total tackles, Junior Corey Thompson with 8 total tackles and 2 forced fumbles, and Junior Connor Nelson with 8 total tackles and an interception.

Hayfield travels to Winona to face the Cotter High Ramblers who have a 0-3 record on Friday. The game will be played at 7pm at Winona State University. Special thanks to all of the fans who have come out to support the Vikings so far this season.
