Triton's offense kept the game close through three quarters but in the end Lake City proved that they were the more physical team in HVL Gold action last Friday night. Lake City was the defending champion in the division and appeared to be on track to repeat again this season.

Triton took the early lead on their first offensive possession when senior running back Justin Erdmann blasted across the goal line from three yards out. Cody Schaefer found a number of receivers available on that first drive to move the ball through the air for the majority of the 77 yard drive. Lake City answered on their first offensive possession to knot the score at 7. Erdmann would score two more times in the game, midway through the fourth quarter on a 92 yard kickoff return and with just under four minutes to play in the game on a two yard run.

Senior receiver Alex Head hauled in an eight yard toss from Schaefer on the Cobra's second offensive possession of the game to give the Cobras the lead once again. The game was tied three times before the Tigers scored consecutively in the late third and early fourth quarter.

Junior running back Seth Johnson added a rushing touchdown midway through the third quarter to knot the score at 21 apiece. The Tigers rushed for five scores and connected on one pass for a touchdown as time was winding down in the third quarter.

Ayrton Henderson led the rushing attack with 18 carries for 67 while Erdmann was close behind with 63 yards on eight attempts. Erdmann was the leading receiver for Schaefer snaring eight balls for 102 yards. Schaefer ended the night completing 19 of 36 attempts for 213 yards and one touchdown.

Erdmann rounded out a stellar evening defensively picking up five solo tackles and 11 assists. Henderson contributed nine combined tackles and Bradley Myers picked up eight and an interception for the defensive effort.

The Cobras return home this Friday night for a tilt with Goodhue. The inaugural Triton Athletic Hall of Fame class will be presented that evening.
