The regular season came to end with a great contest in dodge center. Hayfield got the ball to start the game, but was forced to punt after a first down. Triton's first 2 possessions resulted in scores, putting the Vikings in an early 13-0 hole. On the ensuing kickoff, Triton attempted an onside kick, which was recovered by sophomore Noah Timmons. The first play on the drive junior running back Cole Kruger took the toss 56 yards for the score. The touchdown was the spark the Vikings needed to get going. The Vikings would force a punt then go on another great drive. Kruger capped off the drive with an 11 yard run to score his second touchdown of the night. Snap by Nelson, hold by Pesch, kick by Kruger good to tie the game up at 13. Hayfield would get one more chance in the 2nd quarter, but the drive was cut short by a penalty and an interception.

Big tackles by Seniors Jason Born and Jamie Kiefer on 3rd and 4th down of the Cobras first possession put the ball right back in the hands of the Viking offense in Triton territory. The Vikings' first drive of the half would look very similar to Triton's, and end on a 4th down sack. Triton would be forced to punt, pinning the Vikings back deep on their own 18 yard line. Hayfield began to march on what would end up being an 11 play 67 yard drive, but end with a turnover on downs. On the very next play Triton took the ball on an 85 yard Touchdown score that would be the game winner. Hayfield was able to put together a couple more nice drives, but were plagued by crucial penalties.

The Hayfield offense finished with 259 total yards, 222 of which came on the ground. The rushing attack was led by Kruger who rushed 11 times for 95 yards and 2 TD's, Senior Brady Kramer 11 for 72 yards, and Senior Nate Timmons 11 for 58 yards. Juniors Merrick Ducharme and Mat Walters totaled up the receiving yards for the Vikings. Defensively as a unit Hayfield flew to ball as a group the best they have all year. Leading this swarm were Senior Jason Born (12 total tackles), as well as Seniors Nate Timmons and Brady Stevens, and Junior Merrick Ducharme (10 total tackles).

The Vikings will travel to Lewiston for the first round of playoffs Tuesday night at 7pm. Winner will advance to pay the winner of Dover-Eyota and Chatfield in Section 1 AA football.
