Jaden Thiemann is flanked by his parents Jaci and Al Thiemann at a soggy state tournament held at the Ridges golf course in Jordan, Minn.
Proud parents, Al and Jacki Thiemann, Dodge Center, traveled to Jordan, MN to watch their son, Jaden, compete in his first state golf meet at the Ridges golf complex June 10, 11 and 12. Thiemann, a ninth grade Triton golfer, survived the 27 holes of golf in wet and very tough conditions posting scores of 39 for the first round, 41 on the second round and 42 on the last round. The tournament was suspended after 9 holes on the last day due to rain, cutting the tournament to 27 holes.
"Jaden worked hard and played hard," Coach Don Henderson said. "He didn't have his 'A' game on but battled hard and it was a great experience that will serve him well in the future."
Jordan Peters, a senior from Delano, took home the first place trophy shooting rounds of 34, 35 and 35. Byron senior, Jacob Boe posted a 38, 37 and 36 to come in 8th place overall.
Thiemann said he really enjoyed the playing, but it was pretty nerve racking; yet all in all a very good experience and hopes to get back there next year. Thiemann played with golfers he had never played against before from St. Paul Academy, Mankato East and New London Spicer.
"We are all very proud of the way Jaden competed and conducted himself, Henderson added." There were 147 golfers in the tournament, with six seniors in the top 10.
