Hayfield 48- Kingsland 8

The Vikings were able to jump ahead early and never look back in Spring Valley on Friday night. Hayfield forced a fumble on the opening drive by Kingsland and quickly turned that into a score for themselves. This would be the theme for the game as the Viking Defense did a great job of forcing turnovers, and the Offensive Line controlled the line of scrimmage all night.

Offensively the Vikings were led by Junior Quarterback Cam Rutledge who was 5 of 9 passing for 125 yards and 2 TD's, and also rushed 6 times for 58 yards and 2 TD's. Senior Cole Kruger added 2 TD's of his own on 9 rushes for 82 yards. Also getting in the end zone on the ground for the Vikings was Senior Carter Pesch. Other Vikings totaling up key yardage were Senior Merrick Ducharme- 2 catches for 79 yards and a TD, Senior Mason Moreno 67 total yards, and Junior Tanner Johnston 71 total yards and TD. Moreno and Senior Drew Streightiff also added 2pt conversions.

Defensively the Vikings did a great job taking the ball away with interceptions by Seniors Ducharme, Streightiff, and Chab Kruger, and Junior Cam Rutledge. Junior Cody Carpentier also forced a fumble recovered by Moreno. This Defense was able to keep Kingsland out of the end zone for the first 3 quarters of the game. Leading the way in tackles was Pesch with 15 total tackles, Carpentier with 8 total, Chad Kruger, Garrison Mindrup, Ducharme, and Streightiff with 4 a piece. Carpentier also added 2 sacks while Streigtiff, Noah Timmons, and August Ducharme added a 1 sack a piece themselves. Chad Kruger also added 6 pass break ups as the D held Kingsland to under 100 passing yards.

Next up for the Vikings is their Homecoming game vs. Chatifled at 6:30pm Friday night.
