By Ruth Hanson
The Triton Cobras girls volleyball team traveled to Faribault on Saturday and came home smiling.
They had won three games while losing only one - to place third!
"We played in three tournaments this year with three third place finishes, which is really good," Coach Peggy Moran said. "In each tournament we only lost one match."
The girls lost their first match to a very good Mankato West team that has two college bound athletes on it.
"We did a nice job competing in the first game against West," Coach Moran said. "In the second game vs West they had a very strong server who went on a 10-point run which was a hard start, but the girls did battle. We then beat St. Louis Park, Lester Prairie and TCU to end the day.
The stats leaders were: Emily Hodgman, 23 kills; Sara Bucher, 15 kills, 5 blocks; Gretchen Keller, 12 kills; Piper Yankowiak, 8 kills, 8 assists, 26 digs; Greta Rhodes, 7 kills, 49 set assists, 18 aces, 16 digs; Katy Erdmann, 5 aces, 31 digs; Kali Kispert, 8 kills, 8 aces, 18 digs.
