The wrestlers had success as a team in Dodge Center at Triton's triangular with Blooming Prairie going 2-0 on the night. Hayfield first faced a Blooming Prairie team that was lacking a full roster. Six matches were wrestled against Blooming Prairie. Hayfield won five of the six matches winning by a final score of 69-6. Hayfield dominated Triton starting with a forfeit in their favor at 106 and then won their next five matches by falls. Hayfield had eight pins on the night. The highlights of the night were facing Triton's two undefeated wrestlers, Patrick Ramirez (132) and Lucas Etchason (195). Mason Moreno and Corey Thompson were hoping to get a chance to face them and they did. Ramirez was beating Moreno after taking him down and almost pinning him but Mason got to his belly. In the second period with both wrestlers up, they were locked in a bear hug, trying to turn and trip each other. It could have gone either way but Moreno ended up tripping up Ramirez who landed on his back. Moreno kept a tight hold on Ramirez who was unable to recover. The match was over in 2:41 with Moreno ending Ramirez's winning streak. Corey Thompson has faced Lucas Etchason in the past without success so he was determined to have different results. It was looking good after the first period with no score. Etchason scored an escape in the second period. Thompson chose up in the third period down 1-0. With about 30 seconds left in the match, Thompson took a shot which Etchason took advantage of and scored a take down against Thompson. Thompson lost 3-0 but he didn't walk off disappointed. He put up a great fight. Hayfield went on to beat Triton 54-18. 106 J Heydt (H) forf, 113 Mo Moreno (H) fall :49 T Theobald, 120 C Rasmussen (H) fall 3:55 C Chicos, 126 C Stadler (H) fall 1:43 D Otterbein, 132 Ma Moreno (H) fall 2:41 P Ramirez, 138 L Canny (H) fall 4:28 G Bowman, 145 C Groll (T) fall 4:11 C Johnson, 152 C Nelson (H) fall 5:08 E Otterbein, 160 A Jennings (T) 4-2 D Arndt, 172 J Fernandez (H) fall :53, 182 G Mindrup (H) fall 1:59 M Henderson, 195 Dbl Forf, 220 L Etchason (T) 3-0 C Thompson, 285 A Vacura (T) fall :45 T Chatman.
