The Byron school board held its annual organizational meeting Jan. 7 at the district board room on the campus of Byron High School.

The board named its officers for 2013, selected board members to various committees and swore in the three incumbents and one newcomer who voters elected to those four positions last November.

Matt Prigge will remain board chair, while Chris Douglas will remain vice chair. Paul Daley will remain treasurer, while Faith Hollasch returns as board clerk.

Board directors are Peggy Morris, Peggy Harris and newcomer Tessa Olive.

Prigge, Douglas and Morris all won their re-election bids last fall.

As far as board salaries, Douglas made a motion to keep them the same as last year, and the rest of the members agreed.

Board members are paid $1,000 annually. The board chair is paid $1,500, while members of the negotiating team, which this year includes Prigge, Douglas and Harris, receive an additional $500.

In other business, the board designated the Byron Review the official newspaper of the district; named Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, legal counsel for the district; named First Security Bank as primary depository for the school district checking account and named the Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund as primary depository for investments.

In addition, the board designated official posting places for school board meetings which include the bulletin board in the hallway by the district office in the high school; the elementary school; the middle school; the community education center; the district's web site; the board room; Byron City Hall; Byron Market Place and in the Byron Review.
