There is a saying, "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten." If you are happy with the way the legislature worked last session, stop reading this and vote for my opponent.
If, on the other hand, you're tired of partisan politics, government shut-downs, and a legislature that is more interested in working on divisive social issues than creating jobs, then it's time for a change. We need legislators who are skilled negotiators and who will bring all voices to the table. As an Olmsted County Commissioner for nearly 8 years, I understand the art of compromise.
I have extensive knowledge of local government, especially in health and human services. I'll work collaboratively to reshape government services so they are based on outcomes while eliminating duplication. I support a Minnesota (rather than a Federal) health insurance exchange. This exchange will help individuals and businesses compare, choose and buy affordable health insurance in Minnesota.
Promoting policies that support small businesses and entrepreneurs will be my priority. I support sensible and fair tax reform to reduce Minnesota's growing reliance on property taxes. There are many ways to save money in state government other than across the board cuts.
I raised the bar as a County Commissioner and I will do the same as your Senator. I ask for your vote November 6.
